Sitges, the Mediterranean Golden Beach
15 golden fine sand beaches along more than 2,5 miles of coast in the city centre (and other 7 beaches in the rest of the municipal district) make Sitges one of the best places in Spain and in the Mediterranean to sunbathe and enjoy the sea. The European Union honours every year Sitges' beaches with several blue flags, at the time as the Catalan Autonomous Government (Generalitat de Cataluña) does credit to the good-quality and environmental health of the waters enjoyed by bathers. Because of this, tourists christened Sitges as "The Golden Beach of the Mediterranean sea" years ago already.

Activities and services at Sitges' beaches
Sitges' beaches mostly boast any kind of services for bathers such as lifeguards, public toilets, swim conditions signs (flags of different colours), sun lounges rental, and so on. Nearly all architectural barriers have been removed, making beaches accessible to all bathers. Besides, "L'Estanyol" beach boasts a Red Cross first-aid post.
Some beaches offer little sailing boats, jet-skis, pedal boats, windsurfing boards and other vessels to rent. Other ones, like the beaches of " La Fragata" and " La Bassa Rodona", often set up sporting activities like beach volleyball games or Aqua-Gym master classes. It's difficult even for the most demanding bather not to enjoy the splendid beaches of Sitges to the maximum.
